I’m sure you will have heard of both Semi and Permanent Makeup before, but it can often be misleading when you are trying to search out the treatment that is right for you.

What are the differences between the two?

Here’s an easy way to explain it:

Semi-Permanent Makeup will wear off.  It refers to a topical treatment on the brow hairs and skin, such as tint and dye.  These are applied topically by a beauty therapist and can last up to six weeks when done correctly.  These products are now easily available to buy online and are often carried out at home.  However, it’s very important to carry out a patch test and follow the instructions carefully.  But ultimately these products will eventually wear off. They work well for those who currently have plenty of brow hair to manage.  It can be laminated, tinted, trimmed and tidied.

Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with plentiful brow hair, and that’s where Permanent Makeup comes into play.

I refer to myself as a Permanent Makeup artist.  I am tattooing into the skin, layering specialist pigments into the dermal layer creating either soft shading or hair strokes.

I use two methods to do this, a permanent makeup digital machine or a hand-held tool, which you may know as microblading.

The pigments I use are designed to gently fade over time.  As they fade, they need topping up to keep them looking their best.  There are varying factors to how long this will take, but it could be anything from 9 months to 2 years.  However, some pigment will stay in the skin indefinitely, hence the name Permanent Makeup.

You may also hear other terms such as Powder, Pixels, Nano, Combination Brows, Permanent Cosmetics but it’s all the same thing, a tattoo into the skin.

Don’t let that put you off though.  It’s all about how it’s created.  I like to keep the permanent makeup looking as natural as possible. Less is always more where I’m concerned.  If you are interested in having a complimentary consultation to see which treatment is right for you, then do please get in touch.
